Our board of directors brings years of experience in a variety of academic disciplines which strengthens our program development as we work to empower the most vulnerable and oppressed individuals in the world.

Susan Stasi, CEO, Rose Academies

Susan Stasi is the CEO of Rose Academies, a globally recognized humanitarian agency that is established in Uganda, Eastern Africa. Since 2014, she has spearheaded multiple campaigns that address the disparities of health and wellness of impoverished communities in an effort to empower the oppressed, vulnerable and disabled with knowledge while reducing preventable deaths of children.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Jose State University, Magna Cum Laude, concentration on Foreign Languages and DSCTE California Teaching Credential from U.C.Berkeley.

Monica Metzger, MSCSE

Monica Metzger, MSCSE, Vice President/Chief Technology Officer

Monica Metzger, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer is taking Rose Academies to new levels with her expertise in the development of innovative technology. She is responsible for the creation of our Healthy Future application program that has been successfully taught throughout Uganda. Her understanding of the challenges faced by the disabled, oppressed and low literate learner is at the core of all our application programs. Her latest project, the ROSE PCH (Portable Classroom Hub), is a revolutionary changemaker in the way healthcare can and will be taught in resource poor areas.

Miss Metzger is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she received her Masters in Computer Science and Engineering.

Sachin Dasnurkar, PhD

Sachin Dasnurkar, PhD, Treasurer

Sachin Dasnurkar joins Rose Academies taking the position of Board Treasurer. With a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Sachin’s career highlights include extensive work in data analysis and developing non-conventional, low-resource solutions for semiconductor and MEMS testing methodologies. He has held significant roles at major tech firms, currently serving as an AI/ML Engineer at Apple and previously working as an academic researcher at Qualcomm

As Board Treasurer, Sachin will leverage his skills in efficiency, optimization, and project leadership to oversee Rose Academies’ financial administration. Sachin holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Ananya Agarwal, MA, Board Secretary

Ananya Agarwal joins our Rose Team as Board Secretary where she will be responsible for corporate records management and communications. As a recent Masters of Arts graduate in International Studies, Ananya brings a wealth of experience in policy, international relations, education and emerging technologies. Her skills in international relations are a welcome asset to our team as we continue to pursue strategic partnerships in the global sector.

Ananya holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from John Hopkins University.

Selina Stasi, DrPH

Selina Stasi, DrPH, Community Engagement Officer

Selina Stasi is Professor of Health Promotion and Behavior at Texas A&M University School of Public Health. Her experience and knowledge in working with indigenous populations make her a perfect candidate for helping develop our community programs in Uganda as the Community Engagement Officer for Rose. Her trip to Uganda last June revealed her ability to unite and engage youth with the creation of our Kids That Care Club – Uganda.

Dr. Stasi brings a wealth of experience in working with Nonprofit Organizations, Research, Event Planning and Program Development; She holds a doctoral degree in Public Health from Texas A&M University.

Devani Baraiya, MPH

Devani Baraiya, MPH, Board Member

Devani Baraiya is a recent graduate from Drexel University with a Masters in Public Health and Epidemiology. Ms. Baraiya has an extensive background in infectious disease research, health systems strengthening and community-engaged public health practice.

Her experience and knowledge in advancing equitable access to care, improving health literacy and supporting initiatives that empower frontline workers will be a tremendous asset as we move forward in the development of healthcare programs designed to improve confidence levels of village health workers in Uganda.

Camille Ortiz

Camille Ortiz, Board Member

Camille Ortiz joins Rose Academies as an administrative assistant in finance. Camille has a diversified background in finance, facilities management and corporate administration.

Her boundless energy, efficiency and multi-tasking skills are helping keep all our multiple programs organized and running smoothly.

Gaatha Shah, MPH

Gaatha Shah, MPH, Board Member

Gaatha Shah joins us as a recent graduate of Texas A&M University with a Master of Public Health , specializing in the field of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She has an extensive background in clinical research, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Her expertise in these areas are an added bonus as she continues to help us in researching best methods for teaching the low literate learner in Uganda. We look forward to working together as we continue the development of our educational programs.

Carol Buchser

Carol Buchser, Rose Academies Board Member Emeritus

Carol Buchser just announced her retirement from Rose Academies’ Board. She has been instrumental in the development of our organization, having worked and supported Rose from its founding in 2014.

She promises to stay on as our cheerleader and advisor as we head into the next chapter of our program development. Thank you Carol for your years of support, commitment and service.
