Rose Soroti Chapter
Our Soroti chapter is growing by leaps and bounds. This year, thanks to our Rose Uganda Team Leader, Mr. Simon Atodu, we now have 22 groups within the 6 parishes in Gweri Sub County. This chapter was developed to serve the needs of persons with disabilities and has been successful in providing trainings to over 60 villages that have a high number of disabled persons.
Our skills development trainings continue to grow in popularity. We are now providing tailoring classes in 2 more parishes after we recently purchased 2 more sewing machines.
Opening Doors to a Bright Future
Soroti district families celebrate that 30 girls from their region are the recipients of a scholarship program being sponsored by the Soroptimist International (UK) President’s Appeal of 2022-23. This prestigious award covers a full year’s tuition fees at a private primary school, uniforms, books and life skills lessons for 30 deserving girls. We selected Soroti district as this is an oppressed area in Uganda where many girls drop out of school as their parents cannot afford the tuition fees.
